Sublimation Inks
A- READY FOR USE SUBLIMATION INKS:
They are aqueous inks formulated to print sublimation transfers. Available in 22 standard colors plus the Transparent Base (reducing agent), they can be mixed each other to obtain other tones.

Printed on industrial paper as an inverted image, and let the printing dry to a temperature less than 80ºC. Once dried it can be transferred with transfer iron to the synthetic fabrics.

PAPER:
Paper without coatings must be used, with a grammage between 100 and 150 grams/m2 (enough to prevent cracks and remain unchanged while undergoing temperatures up to 220º C). It must have smooth surface, free from dirtiness and dust.

FABRICS:
These inks can be transferred to synthetic fabrics of Polyester, Polyamide, Acetate, Triacetate, Lycra, Acrylic, mixtures of Polyester Cotton (with minimum 70% Polyester), etc.
They are not recommended for cotton or other natural fibers  (the disperse dye of the ink does not adhere to these fibers).

TRANSFER:
The temperatures as well as the exposure times vary between 180 and 220º C, and between 20 and 40 seconds, depending on the fabric, reason why it is suggested to perform previous tests with thermo transfer iron and determine the 3 variables (temperature, time and pressure) to obtain the best intensity and brightness of the color. The pressure suggested is between 4 and 5 Kg/cm2

APPLICATION EXAMPLES:
As an example, for a pressure of 5 Kg/cm2, the following temperatures and transfer times are suggested: Polyester (210º C, 30 sec), Acrylic (190º C, 20 sec), Polyamide (200º C, 20 sec), Triacetate (195º C, 25 sec.).
For Blacks Sublimatex, to have the better transfer of the color, temperatures of 210/220º C and 40 seconds are recommended.

Note: These inks are not suitable for cotton or other natural fibers, since disperse dye of the ink does not fix to the fiber. However, it can be tested for cotton fibers, first applying the POLYESTER EMULSION base , using a 25 threads/cm silk over the already printed and dried transfer paper, let dry again and finally transfer under pressure at 205 ºC for 35 seconds and tearing off the paper when still hot . Test well fastness at washing.

B- CONCENTRATED "SUBLIMATEX" DYES
The "Sublimatex " disperse dyes are water based micro dispersions for making sublimation inks to print on paper and then transfer to synthetic fibers. They are used adding (maximum) 100 g/kg on the SUBLIMATEX BASE; except for black, for wish 200 g/kg is added (max.). In the color card you can see the tones of each dye in different concentrations (g/kg) of "Sublimatex" paste.
This paste is 100% water based (without solvents) and it has an adhesive to prevent movement between the paper and the garment during transfer.
The paper must be between 100 to 150 gr/m2 , depending upon how many colors are in the design.
Use a 70/75 durometer squeegee and polyester mono filament mesh between 120/140 threads/cm (305/355 threads/inch).
Dry the paper with the ink in the oven at 50 to 70º C (125 to 160º F) with good ventilation.
Make the transfer at 200 to 220º C (392º F to 428º F) for 30 to 40 seconds and medium pressure. Temperature and time depend upon the fiber (polyester, polyamide, acrylic, triacetate, nylon, lycra, etc.)
The dyes are not good for cotton and other natural fibers because these fibers will not absorb the sublimated dyes. However, it can be tested for cotton fibers, first applying the POLYESTER EMULSION base, using a 25 threads/cm silk over the already printed and dried transfer paper, let dry again and finally transfer under pressure at 205 ºC for 35 seconds and tearing off the paper when still hot. Test well fastness at washing. To do a similar procedure but in dark fabrics there's available the COVERING POLYESTER EMULSION (The definition isn't as good as the Polyester emulsion).
